Following the finalization of Zain Africa sale, Zain management took further steps in re-organizing the management structure by switching positions and appointing new names. Khalid Al.Omar was appointed today as Zain Kuwait CEO, where Khalid Al.Hajeri (Former Zain kuwait CEO) was appointed as Zain CEO advisor for Saudi Affairs. The changes included the return of the former CEO Barrak Al.Sabeeh as Zain Group COO (Chief Operating Officer).

Khalid Al-Omar joined Zain in December 1986 and was appointed CTO in November 2008. He has worked in various leading positions since joining the company in 1986. As CTO he will be responsible for the overall management of the company’s mobile telecommunications operations across the Middle East and Africa including networks planning, development, systems operations & management.

Also, Al Omar will be responsible for strategic direction and policy matters while aligning with the latest technological trends. He will be part of the team responsible for developing and approving the company’s business strategy in line with corporate strategic goals while exploring opportunities for business expansion…


Previous to this appointment as CTO, he was Zain Kuwait’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), where he supervised the functioning of Networks, IT, Customer Care, Sales and Marketing departments through effective internal and external communications in a collaborative working environment in line with Zain’s policies and procedures.

Between the years 2003-2005, Al Omar was additionally (as well as being CTO of Zain in Kuwait) responsible for the implementation and launch of the Atheer project (Iraq) establishing a mobile network in the Southern region and in Baghdad, creating the largest microwave backbone in Iraq.

Holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Engineering Technology from Colorado Technical College Colorado USA, in 2006 Al-Omar successfully completed an Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School, Boston USA and is also an alumnus of Harvard University.
